David Babington-Smith

David has over 30 years’ international experience in commercial and not for profit start-ups, strategy consulting and board-level governance.
His principle role is to take someone’s kernel of an idea and help grow it into a successful organisation, backed up with strong internal processes and good governance.
Previous positions include Chairman of Gunnersbury Estates, a major west London heritage estate, and co-founder & CEO of Epigeum – one of the UK’s first successful Edtech firms. In the mid-1990s he helped started Citlyife, now Allia, which has now raised more than £1bn in bond finance for social ventures in the UK. In the early 1990s David was also National Director of Habitat for Humanity Malawi, growing the organisation to become the country’s largest homebuilder.
David has an MA in History from Cambridge University, and an MBA from Imperial College London. He is a Director of the Institute of Heraldic & Genealogical Studies, and of Olmo Real Estate Advisers Ltd.
